Why Not Consider Chiropractic on World Cancer Day

World Cancer Day is held each year on the 4th of February.

The Australian Cancer Research Foundation states it as a day dedicated to empowering individuals and communities worldwide to show support and create awareness of cancer in a positive way. The movement is led by the Union of International Cancer Control (UICC), who aim to dispel myths about cancer and improve international understanding of the disease.

It is a day celebrated across the globe because we know that only together, can we improve education and inspire action. Ultimately, working towards a world where millions of #cancer deaths are prevented, and #lifesavingresearch is equitable for all.

There are obvious causes of cancer such as smoking, excessive drinking and an unhealthy lifestyle.

However, many cancers just happen. No rhyme no reason.

On the bright side, there is a lot that can be done to improve your prognosis.

Apart from the necessary oncological treatments, healthy eating and exercise benefit all areas of the body and give your body its’ best fighting chance.

It truly is amazing how the body has the innate ability to heal itself. For this to happen however, all areas of the body need to be communicating effectively. They need to be in sync.

Chiropractic therapy aims to realign communications within the body by ensuring the #centralnervoussystem operates as it should.

Chiropractors are highly trained health care professionals specialising in the analysis and correction of #vertebralsubluxations.

Contrary to being something associated with a form of hocus pocus holistic therapy, the negative impact subluxations have on our overall health and function has been recognised by the World Health Organisation.

The WHO now lists Subluxation complex (vertebral) in the latest international classification of disease and related health problems.

The cause of subluxation is, in simple terms, our body’s inability to deal with our life stressors; be they physical, chemical, or emotional.

Some e.g. of these stressors are:

Physical -

  • the birth process

  • learning to walk

  • auto accidents

  • work accidents

  • poor posture

  • sports injuries

  • lifting heavy items incorrectly

  • prolonged sitting or standing

  • repetitive activities etc

Chemical factors –

  • Include those we may ingest:

    • #Neurotoxins as food additives

    • excessive alcohol, tobacco, sugar, artificial sweeteners, food colouring, caffeine, MSG, biochemical constituents of foods (e.g. grain-fed red meat, hydrogenated fats),

  • environmental toxins

  • lack of proper nutrients (such as essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, protein)

Emotional tensions such as:

  • chronic stress

  • grief

  • depression etc.

These tensions greatly influence our #posture and #neurological quality.

It may take just one or a combination of these factors to result in alterations to #jointfunction and neurological adaptation.

So in summary, lifestyle choices, diet, chiropractic therapy and early intervention impact your prognosis when diagnosed with cancer.

The availability of diagnostic cancer tests available to us in Australia really is mind-blowing.

Many people in the world are denied access to such tools so we really owe to ourselves and our loved ones to do all we can in the prevention of this indiscriminate disease.
